National Black Pro-Life Coalition ∴ Mildred Jefferson, M.D.

Dr. Mildred Jefferson knew all about adversity. Growing up in the Jim Crow South, she fought against racism and sexism to become the first Black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School. As a physician, she was passionate about caring for the sick and exposing the evil of eugenics. She co-founded the National Right to Life Committee. With 28 honorary degrees and the ability to speak powerfully, yet eloquently, to the issue of abortion, Dr. Jefferson was a trailblazer.
